No More Room in Hell. Weapons – hard numbers.
WriterX has already covered the use of all the weapons in No More Room in Hell in terms of practice. But this time, we will do it my way – focus on numbers. Some of you asked for those, to get an objective benchmark of the performance of each type of weapon, so I spent a couple of hours testing each of them – and recording the results for you. I have also added some comments, where additional explanation was necessary, and one or two tips.
For melee weapons, this article includes a similar table, better suited to describe this type of weapons.
This article is a supplement to our series of No More Room in Hell guides.
Below is a little explanation of each of the characteristics, and what is the assessment based on:
Shooting speed (out of 10)
This is how fast the weapon fires. 10 means it fires as fast, as I can click (and I’m quite fast!), while 1 is the slowest gun in the game.
Ammo capacity
How many bullets you have in your clip. +1 means that additional bullet may be loaded in the chamber.
Reload time (approx in seconds)
Approximate time it takes for a full reload of your gun, measured in seconds.
Accuracy (out of 10)
10 means the gun shoots exactly where you aim. 1 is reserved for shotguns, as their accuracy is extremely low at any distance higher, than 5m.
Headshots per kill
How many headshots it takes to take down your average zombie. I recorded best and worst results. It was measured at short distance (up to approx 4 metres), so that shotguns are not too handicapped here.
Body shots per kill
Same as headshots, but aiming at the body – belly and chest area.
Ammo type
Just for your convenience. If you want, you can print it out for your reference, if you can’t memorize what goes where.
Max ammo
This is how much ammo you can carry on your person. It excludes ammo in the gun.
Kills-per-clip
This shows, how many zombies you can kill without reloading. Minimum values is for the worst body shots per kill value, while maximum is for best headshots per kill. Generally, weapons like shotguns will have smaller spread, while that of M16A4 is much higher. This means, that M16A4 will be used much more efficiently in hands of experienced player aiming for headshots, while a shotgun is better suited for the beginner. This assumes each of your shot hits the target, and is purely theoretical. Practical values will be anywhere in between these two, depending on your skills (or worse than that, if you miss).
The guns are sorted in the same categories, as in our previous guides. Click on the heading to go directly to article covering guns in the table, or click here to go to the main page of the series.
Scopes, keeping your distance.
Shooting speed (out of 10) | Ammo capacity | Reload time (approx seconds) | Accuracy (out of 10) | Headshots per kill | Body shots per kill | Ammo type | Max ammo | Kills per clip | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sako 85 | 1 | 5+1 | 4 | 10 | 1 | 2 | .308 | 30 | 3-6 |
| M16A4 | 10 | 30+1 | 3 | 9 | 1 | 5-6 | M16 clips | 60 | 5-31 |
As you can see, M16A4 can be deadly in hands of experienced player. However, spraying bullets at zombies is pure waste.
Shotguns. Close and almost personal.
Shooting speed (out of 10) | Ammo capacity | Reload time (approx seconds) | Accuracy (out of 10) | Headshots per kill | Body shots per kill | Ammo type | Max ammo | Kills per clip | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Remington 870 | 2 | 9 | 12 | 1 | 1 | 2-3 | 12 Gauge shells | 20 | 3-9 |
| Winchester Super X3 | 9 | 6 | 10 | 1 | 1-3 | 2-3 | 12 Gauge shells | 20 | 2-6 |
| Mossberg 500 | 2 | 6 | 8 | 1 | 1-2 | 2-3 | 12 Gauge shells | 20 | 2-6 |
| Beretta SV10 Perennia | 10 | 2 | 6 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 12 Gauge shells | 20 | 1-2 |
In case of shotguns, the accuracy is very low. However, in their effective range (about 5 metres), they are accurate enough. If zombie is further away from you, the damage is greatly reduced.
Beretta is my runner-killing machine. At point blank range, I can shoot twice in a blink of an eye (it is much faster, than the Winchester Super X3). Aim right, and you will kill every zombie in the game. Miss it, and you are screwed.
One important thing to mention, is that a shotgun can hit (and kill) more than one zombie with a single shot. Killing 2 zombies with a single headshot is quite doable, while sometimes you can take even 3 of them down.
Handguns, almost like in the Wild West.
Shooting speed (out of 10) | Ammo capacity | Reload time (approx seconds) | Accuracy (out of 10) | Headshots per kill | Body shots per kill | Ammo type | Max ammo | Kills per clip | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Beretta M9 | 10 | 15+1 | 2 | 5 | 1-3 | 13 | 9mm | 60 | 1-16 |
| Colt National Match 1911 | 10 | 7+1 | 3 | 6 | 1 | 7 | .45 ACP | 28 | 1-8 |
| Smith & Wesson 686-6 | 6 | 6 | 4 | 6 | 1 | 3-5 | .357 Magnum | 24 | 1-6 |
While Beretta can one-shoot a zombie, it usually takes 2 shots to kill one. Colt and Smith&Wesson on the other hand typically kill a zombie with a single shot to the head.
Everything else
Shooting speed (out of 10) | Ammo capacity | Reload time (approx seconds) | Accuracy (out of 10) | Headshots per kill | Body shots per kill | Ammo type | Max ammo | Kills per clip | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MP5A3 | 11 | 30+1 | 4 | 5 | 1-2 | 13-15 | 9mm Luger | 60 | 2-31 |
| Simonov SKS | 10 | 10+1 | 5 | 9 | 1 | 4-5 | 7.62x39mm | 80 | 2-10 |
| Ruger 10/22 | 10 | 10+1 | 4 | 8 | 1-3 | 21 | .22LR | 120 | 0-10 |
I gave 11 for the speed to MP5A3 – this is the only gun, that can fire faster, than I click. Actually, it often shoots a double in a single click (and I use a low-latency gaming mouse, typical office mouse will tend to do that much more often). It is deadly in hands of experienced player, but spraying gives even worse results, than in case of M16A4.
Ruger is the worst weapon in the game, when it comes to body shots. It takes more than 2 clips to kill a zombie. But aim for the head, and you will kill most of the zombies with 1-2 shots. In hands of experienced player, it can be deadly as well.
