Men of War Guide. Part 3 – Deployment

Knowledge of the game mechanics and knowledge of the different units at your disposal are the bare minimum of winning a round in any game. With all the information you have gathered you must now design a strategy. Depending on the Game Mode you might have to adjust yourself to a specific task, but a lot of the time the principle rules do not change. In this part of the Men of War Guide we will examine what I refer to as the “Basic Deployment”.

What does the future hold for the French? World of Tanks Patch 7.4

Patch 7.3 for World of Tanks was not yet released, yet there is word already of Patch 7.4. What we know for certain is that Patch 7.4 will include French Tank Destroyers and Self Propelled Guns. Although as of yet we have no details of what will be released we have access to the Full French Tank-Tree, and as such we can already tell what might be introduced into the game soon. Another small tit-bit that was mentioned was a possible change to the VK4502(P) Ausf.B, but as the developers states it is as yet unknown if this will occur in patch 7.4 or a later one.

Meeting of the Grouch and Tiger. German Premium SPG speculation.

The World of Tanks team adds more and more tanks with each upcoming Patch. I still remember the humble beginnings of the simple “linear” German and Soviet tank trees. Today, together with more nations being introduced, there is much more complexity and choice. But the choice is not only limited to tanks you can research, but also the Premiums. In this article I would wish to focus on two Premium SPGs which will be added to the Germans (check the German Tank Tree here), some time in the future. The Sturmpanzer IV Brummbär (it means Grouch, not Bear) and Sturmpanzer VI Sturmtiger.

World of Tanks Public Test of Patch 7.3

A Public Test of Patch 7.3 for World of Tanks has been announced, giving anybody the chance to participate, as long as you registered before April 17th, 2012. In order to take part in the testing you will have to download a Test Client, and install it in a separate folder (do not mix it up with your original files). Logging into the Test Server can be done with your normal account. There will be a “pop” limit of 26,000 players, so expect lines during peak hours.

Check out the trailer and details of patch 7.3 here, otherwise read below for details about the Public Test.

Mount & Blade Warband: Napoleonic Wars DLC Released.

Mount & Blade had numerous Mods that caught my attention. Sometimes it was the original design, sometimes additional functions to the game itself. I was always keen to try out a new mod, and one of them was Mount & Musket. Having been in a Battalion (think of it as a clan), both as an Infantryman and member of the cavalry I appreciated the brotherhood of players working together on the battlefield, operating in formations during the Napoleonic era. The battles were huge, with Commanders handing out orders when appropriate. Outside these battles there were the training sessions, and the “ordinary” battles, with other players. Mount & Musket was a great experience, because each nation had a number of “units” at their disposal.

World of Warplanes Fighters Teaser Video

In case you are still stuck in your tanks, wargaming.net has been working on World of Warplanes for some time already (for at least the past year, since the announcement about WoW appeared in June 2011, and information on pre-alpha testing was already published in August 2011). Their Alpha testing is still in progress, but once in a while we have a chance to see some of their work “Come to life”. In this case, a Teaser video showing some in-game footage and a small gallery of “Pics”, featuring different fighter planes.

As stated in the original news post:

“Fighters will be available for all nations currently featured in World of Warplanes—the U.S., Germany and the Soviet Union—and will be represented by the most famous warplane models, including the P-51 Mustang, P-39 Airacobra, La-5, and Bf 109.

Just like their real-life prototypes, Fighters in World of Warplanes will be best at performing offensive reconnaissance, engaging in close one-on-one dogfights and effective attacking in groups of two or three.”

Patch 1.002 for Company of Heroes: Modern Combat

The Company of Heroes Mod called Modern Combat got itself a patch today (1.002) adding a few changes to the gameplay, stability and “looks” of the mod. Among other things, the US now can buy passive healing for its infantry, and the Chinese now have access to Napalm Strikes and Incendiary Mines (as long as you pick the right Doctrines). For the full list of changes check below, otherwise click here for all the download details, including an optional Sound Pack.

In case you have no idea what this Mod is about check out this article for some general details.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent Gameplay Video Part 2

The second part of my Gameplay Video for Amnesia: The Dark Descent. In case you do not know, it’s a fascinating survival horror experience. No guns or weapons, just your wits and the creepiest atmosphere I have felt, thus far. If you call yourself a horror gamer, you must try Amnesia.

The entire Gameplay video from myself shows the first half-hour of the game. Trust me, later on it gets much more scary, and the puzzles are a bit tougher.

Patch 1.04 for No More Room in Hell

The living dead got a bit of a workout, cosmetic care, and are now ready to storm your safe houses again! Patch 1.04  (Beta) has been released for No More Room in Hell today, adding a new map, as well as a number of subtle changes to gameplay, optimization and previous maps. For example, nms_flooded now has more ammo around the map, and ammo to rifles, shotguns ,etc. will now spawn. Furthermore, the “objective” on nms_flooded is to survive ten waves, after which the choppah arrives!

Amnesia: The Dark Descent Gameplay Video – Part 1

My first attempt at Amnesia: The Dark Descent. I tried Justine first, to familiarise myself with the controls a bit… Let me tell you this, if you want a good scare this is the game for you. I played it during the day, and I felt droplets of sweat creeping down my spine.

The game in itself is “easy”. The controls need some getting used to, but the game allows you to “ease in”. The puzzles are not too demanding (so far) and although you can quickly lose your sanity there are enough puzzles to regain it. If you want some more vids of me panicking in Amnesia write down requests below!
